Tainted Love & Mazda Miatas

* LeBron obviously missed the Wizards earrings. Sorry for the delay today folks. It’s my birthday and I took my time getting into the office.

“Balsillie’s back in the clear, Roberto Luongo will have to persevere, and tonight is the biggest game in the Chosen One’s career. Believe that. Famous…is an artist who made a song for us.”

Happy Thursday Tim and Sidizens! Welcome to another edition of the Sid and Tim: Cut daily review. Lots of stuff to get to so I won’t keep you waiting. Sidney is still on holidays doing god knows what – but have no fear, Noon and Bronsteter are working behind the glass with the lovely Nadine. I should note that Nadine’s twitter address has been one of the top links clicked on within this blog. She’s quite the hit with the male population. And a little heads up by Tim here, “Oh my God Twitter, what have you done to us?”. Tim asks all the Tim and Sidizens to look up #rashardlewis and check out the recent news – only telling us to prepare for discussion on it later on. “It’s a lot to digest, and we’re going to play it by air.” Topics for today’s show include: Roberto Luongo, Terrelle Pryor, LeBron Ramon James, his girlfriend, Rashard Lewis, Big Pimpin’ Papi, Timmy T, Jim Balsille, and of course…the Curse of Tim and Sid.

Vancouver Canucks & the Curse of Tim and Sid
Once again, Tim mentions the recent curse he put on the Vancouver Canucks and Roberto Luongo. If you remember, Tim gave huge praise to Luongo the other day for how well he has performed in the playoffs, but then in the following 2 games, the netminder gives up 12 goals. WTH? There’s debate on whether or not Luongo or Cory Schneider starts game 5. Tim and Bronsteter can’t see this happening, but Noon believes there’s a slight possibility, “This is not the time to be making friends. It’s the fucking playoffs.” If Luongo gave up 12 goals in two games, it’s time for him to get off the stage. There’s a lot of pressure on Roberto….but is it the same amount of pressure that LeBron James is facing?

“Time to put up or shut up for LeBron Ramon James.”, said Tim. The NBA Championship finals is tied 2-2 going into tonight’s game and winner of game 5 could be one step closer to winning it all. However, shocking news came out today and this relates to the #rashardlewis comments earlier in the show. Rumour has it that Rashard Lewis had sexual relations with James’ girlfriend and mother of his children, Savannah Brinson. This is crazy shit as it was just over a year ago that Delonte West was accussed of sleeping with James’ mom. What’s going on here! Stephen A. Smith seems to be the one who has been dropping the news both on Jim Rome and the Mike and Mike Show. You can check out his comments here. Tim doesn’t sound like he’s completely sold on the rumours, but where there’s smoke, there’s usually fire.

The Return of Popeye Jones
Great guest today as Tim had retired basketball player, once Raptor and teammate of Dirk Nowitzki, Assistant Coach of the New Jersey Nets, Popeye Jones. The first thing the guys get into is the upcoming draft later this month. Right now, the Nets are working hard studying the draft and “looking for some diamonds in the rough.” Jones believes that it’s a wide open draft this year, more so than the past, as the top 15 – 20 guys could fall anywhere in the top part of the draft. Either way, Jones hopes and sees potential that some of these diamonds could play for 15 – 20 years. Tim then asks Jones about the recent changes in New Jersey and how the landscape with the city and franchise has changed over the last little while. Popeye believes there’s definitely excitement in the air, between the new owner, the assets they’ve collected, Avery Johnson, the upcoming Brook Lopez and All-Star Deron Williams all puts a buzz in the air.

Tim then asks Popeye about the current finals and some notes of interest include: Popeye thinks LeBron just needs to play his own game and not worry about anyone else, the Heat have definitely progressed throughout the season and have become much better defensively, and Dirk has completely rised to another level in regards to his play on the court, “He only plays to win Championships, not the All-Star games or anything else.” If you have time, check out the mix of Dirk’s time with the German National team….the boy deserves some praise.

Tim does ask Popeye about the notion of Dirk Nowitzki being soft. Coming from someone who has played with Dirk in the past, Popeye Jones completely believes this is an unfair statement. “Dirk Nowitzki is not a soft basketball player. He’s has a tremendous work ethic, he’s in the gym at night, and always competing in practice.” Apparently, the guy isn’t soft in the eyes of Jones. To be honest, I think it’s weak to call him soft anyways, just because he’s had shitty playoffs or has failed to win it all. But hey, softness is in the eye of the beholder. Jones alos believes that Dallas will prevail in the series and eventually crowned NBA Champions. As the boys say good-bye to Popeye, they discuss the LeBron/Rashard/Savannah love triangle a little bit more. According to Tim, “Rashard Lewis got to the vagine” and “Next year, I hope Grandma James is safe.”

Interesting Facts from News Pimp, Rob Pizzo
1. Gilbert Arenas was on a blind date recently and actually tweeted during the whole date. Some of the shit he said was hilarious – click here for more information. There’s no way I can sum it up properly.
2. Another Twitter Dick: Oney Guillen, Ozzie’s son. The kid is the worst MLB Draft Analyst ever. His recent tweet, “Shocker, the White Sox pick another good athletic black kid. How about picking a good baseball player.” You think that’s bad, read some of the other tweets in the article.
3. Logan Morrison shaves all his body hair to try and break out of his 0 – 14 slump. It actually worked because the guy then went on to get 3 hits.

#_______getsmoreactionthanlebronslovedones
A new match game Tim and Sidizens! And of course it involved the highlight news of the day. Who gets more action than LeBron’s loved ones? Let the answers start flooding in.
– Tiger Woods
– Rick Majerus
– Kim Kardashian
* At one point, Tim gets fed up with Bronsteter’s list because they’re all shitty suggestions.
Noon and Pizzo try and save the game by suggesting Roberto Luongo, Alex Burrows Mouth, and Sid’s Eye Doctor.

ESPN’s John Buccigross & NHL Stanley Cup Finals
Micallef’s second guest of the day included an interview with ESPN’s anchor, John Buccigross. The boys wasted no time and got straight into the hockey news and the Cup Finals. First question by Tim is whether or not the Bruins attempt to get Ray Bourque as the crowd pumper for the next game in Boston. They’ve had huge successes so far with Neely and Orr and John can’t see why the team doesn’t go this route again – Bourque would be the obvious choice. Discussion then flows into what the atmosphere is like in the City of Boston right now. Buccigross says the atmosphere is unbelieveable; it’s hockey all the time there and the city is completely engrossed.

Conversation then flows into the pressure that Luongo is facing and Tim asks whether it’s more or less than what LeBron is going through right now. John thinks it’s the goaltender that’s feeling the most pressure for sure. Right now, it’s about Legacy for LeBron, but for Luongo, it’s about every shot, every period. and the idea that he’s trying to please not only the City of Vancouver, but all of Canada. If that’s not pressure, I don’t know what is. With regards to who starts in net, John feels they have to go with Roberto Luongo to start the game, but it sounded like he should be put on a short leash. If Luongo gives up 2 soft, deflating goals in the first period, he could see him being replaced by Schneider.

Rapid Fire
Strange game of CUT or UNCUT by Bronsteter today – definitely some hits, but he also had some misses mixed in there too. I’m not too worried though.
– Requesting a receipt when you send an email. CUT or UNCUT? CUT, I will always click the do not send reciept button. If you really wanted to make sure I got your message, you should of called me in the first place.
– Sitting with your laptop at a Cafe for more than 2 hours. CUT or UNCUT? UNCUT, I would love to be able to do this. I can’t fault them for maybe having a better job than I.
– Giving your child a first name that rhymes with your last name. CUT or UNCUT? This is kind of CUT. I’m not sure I want a limerick as a kid.
– A man driving a Mazda Miata. CUT or UNCUT? CUT. Drive something with balls or a VW.
– Not rolling down your socks when you’re wearing shorts. CUT or UNCUT? CUT, the high socks with shorts looks odd. If you need to be wearing sneakers with shorts, wear the ankle socks.
– Fans who were watching the game at Rogers Centre cheering when Roberto Luongo was pulled. CUT or UNCUT? This is CUT, but it’s part of the game. We all boo our players when they don’t perform or show up – It happens.

Extended Rapid Fire
A little more stuff missed today but I think it was due to the recent rumours of LeBron James and Rashard Lewis story. This little diddy is being thrown in because it’s a Sunny Friday – time for some California Lovin’.

1. Terrelle Pryor: There were rumours of Pryor joining the Roughriders last week only to have him shoot them down. He’s said that he’s not interested in playing in the CFL – Burn!
2. Big Pimpin’ Papi: In six games last week, David Ortiz batted 12-22 (.545) on his way to winning AL Player of the Week Honours. He’s got his “juice” back.
3. Timmy T: I’m guessing Micallef was talking about Tim Thomas. I’ll just say that the last few games for him have been spectacular. Plus he got into a tussle!
4. Jim Balsille: The NHL threw Jimmy a bone by telling him to hang tight and if he keeps his lips closed, an NHL team could come his way in the future. Just don’t be a bitch and put on the show that occurred during the Phoenix story.

Woooooo! Great episode today of Tim and Sid: Uncut. Again, I apoloigize for the delay but it’s my birthday – so fuck off haters. Great to hear Popeye Jones today on the show. I’m not going to lie, I completely forgot about the guy. Hard to believe that he started in the ’94 Rookie game – he’s been around for awhile. The news chat on LeBron and Rashard was quite entertaining – it would have been fun to have heard Sid’s thoughts as well. I have a suggestion that when shit like this happens, at this magnitude, Sid should do a 5 minute call-in if he’s available. With regards to the interview with Buccigross, he was not bad. Nothing that Tim did or said, but I think John came across as a little boring and dry – I think that’s just his personality though. Great show today boys 9.5/10
