Rob Pizzo is winning tweet of the day so far by the Tim and Sid: Uncut crew with the following:
“Jagr may go back to Pittsburgh? Smyth wants to return to Edmonton? How the hell did I wake up this morning in 1996?” – Rob Pizzo
If you haven’t heard, it was announced Monday that Jaromir Jagr, Czech hockey player, was keen on returning to the Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League. The 39-year old spent 11 seasons with the Penguins before bouncing around the league and last playing in the NHL for the New York Rangers. Since then (’08-’09), Jagr has been playing in the KHL for the Avangard Omsk where he finished this season with 50 points in 49 games.
In other semi-retro news, Los Angeles Kings’ Ryan Smyth, has requested to be traded back to the Edmonton Oilers. Smyth spent 11 season with the Oilers from ’95-’07, until he was traded to the New York Islanders. Since then, the hard-nosed winger has played with the Colorado Avalanche and the Kings. And to be honest, the guy never wanted to leave Edmonton in the first place.
